Alicia Coleman: The Next Big Thing Blog Hop

I’m truly honored to be nominated to participate in The Next Big Thing Blog Hop.  I was nominated by not one but two fantastic authors: Mae Clair, author of the romantic suspense novel, WEATHERING ROCK and Christy Olesen, author of the contemporary romance novel,  HER SCOTTISH CEO.   Thank you very much, Ladies!

In The Next Big Thing Blog Hop, writers answer a series of questions about their current WIP.  Several other authors  are then tagged to join the hop.  On to the questions:

What is the working title of your book?

WHISPERING SECRETS

Where did the idea of the book come from?

I sometimes watch Rodeo on channel GAC.   The event I watched was Bull Riding.

What genre does you book fall under?

Contemporary Romance

Which actors would you choose to play your characters in movie renditions?

I don’t watch much television.  When I do, it’s Animal Planet or Travel Channel or as I mentioned earlier, GAC. I’m not familiar with any of the new actors/actresses.

What is the one sentence synopsis of your book?

Retired Rodeo star, Seth Morgan, operates a guest ranch along with his working cattle ranch to make ends meet  has issues with Tamsyn Jordan who  runs to his ranch to make decisions about her love life.

Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?

My plan is to self-publish.

How long did it take you to finish the first draft of your project?

I’m not finished with this first draft yet, but it usually takes me four or five months to finish a first draft.

What other books would you compare this story to in your genre?

No specific books come to mind or I am aware of that I can compare my story to at this time.

Who or what inspired you to write this story?

What inspired this story was family interactions, relationships and how they sometimes fall apart.  I wanted the setting of the story to be of a western nature to build on my interest in Rodeos and western life.

What else about your book may pique readers’ interest?

Family secrets, trust issues, blackmail and kidnapping.

I nominate/tag the following authors/bloggers to continue The Next Big Thing Blog Hop:

Lynne Kensington

Venice Kennedy

Sahara Roberts

  1. It sounds wonderful, Alicia ~ family secrets, trust issues, blackmail and kidnapping! WOW! I’m sure it’s going to be great and I look forward to seeing it in print. Many thanks for participating in the hop. I think this one is a lot of fun!

    1. Thanks Mae. This was fun. I enjoyed it! Coming up with a one sentence synopsis was difficult, but good practice for those all important elevator pitches.

  2. Oh, Alicia– your book sounds yummy! I can’t wait to see how you have Seth and Tamsyn sort out their issues. Especially with all this- Family secrets, trust issues, blackmail and kidnapping.- going on around them. Great break down of your novel, Alicia. I, on the other hand, while I’m honored you’d even think of tagging me, am in the middle of changing direction on what I’m doing next. Consequently, I’m just not ‘ready’ to be The Next Big Thing– not yet. I am absolutely tickled though that you though of me, Alicia. It’s probably going to take me weeks to just come up with the one line synopsis. I applaud you on yours! Great job. Hope you’re close to publishing, I’m already thinking intrigued by what happens on that ranch! 🙂
