Alicia Coleman Presents A BOOK SPOTLIGHT: WITNESS TO PASSION By Naima Simone

Witness to Passion

A Guarding Her Body Novel, Romantic Suspense

Witness to Passion cover

Blurb

Under his protection and in his bed…

For Fallon Wayland, birthdays are just another reminder of her looming spinsterhood. This year is shaping up to be no different. Fired from her job, dumped by her boyfriend, and oh yes, witnessing the murder of a high-ranking lieutenant in the local crime family… Yeah, birthdays suck.

Ever since a disastrous, hot-as-hell kiss years ago, soldier-turned-security specialist Shane Roarke has avoided his baby sister’s reckless – and gorgeous – best friend. Yet when her life is threatened after she witnesses a gang hit, he insists on protecting her…even if she objects.

The two are forced to hole up in a safe house. Alone. Passion long denied erupts between them, burning away their inhibitions. But even as layers – and clothes – are peeled away, danger closes in. Shane and Fallon might finally have a chance at love…if they survive long enough to see it.

ABOUT Naima Simone

I was born the daughter of a sharecropper… Okay, maybe not. But I am the daughter of a pastor from whom I inherited my love of romance. The man can preach a mean Song of Solomon! (There’s that plug, Daddy! You can pay me later!)

Although my first book starred a cucumber named Fred, my first romance came several years later in the seventh grade, when I wrote myself as a heroine opposite Ralph Tresvant from New Edition.Through the power of my pen and imagination, Ralph took one look across a crowded stadium, met my dark, mysterious gaze, fell passionately in love, and serenaded me in front of millions of fans. Out of all the girls in the world, he chose me!And of course, we lived happily ever after–once we had the inevitable fight, aka black moment, and made up with a passionate declaration of love and fidelity. This same story reincarnated itself many times over the years: with Donnie Wahlberg from New Kids on the Block, Brad Pitt, Denzel Washington, and as recently as last night, Vin Diesel.

Though the characters have changed, my love of love has endured. Shaping the lives of unique men and women who experience the first hungry bites of lust, the dizzying heights of passion, and the tender, healing heat of love–nothing compares to it.Except maybe discovering new material for love scenes with my husband, the head of Research & Development!

The Southern Magic Readers Luncheon was a great event.   My mother and I attended.  We arrived early to get our swag bag.  We moved to another area to await entrance to the hall where the Luncheon was held.

Readers were encourage to sit at the table with their favorite authors.  My mom and I sat at the table with  my fellow members of Southern Magic and published authors, Kerry Freeman and Fred Arceneaux.  Many door prizes and baskets were awarded to  registrants and raffle ticket holders.  The meal was served as  Milestone  and recognitions were award to such authors as Christy Reece/Ella Grace, Naima Simone, Jennifer Echols, Kathy Bone, M. V. Freeman, Kira Sinclair, Kerry Freeman, Bonnie Gardner, Debra Glass, Suzanne Johnson, Debby Giusti and Susan Carlisle.

New York Times Best-Selling Author, Dianna Love was the  Welcome Speaker.  She spoke on her life before writing. She also spoke about authors Ernest Hemingway and Emily Bronte receiving bad review on their work, but persevered to become highly respected writers.  Ms Love also introduced the Keynote Speaker.

Sherrilyn Kenyon, New York Times Best-Selling Author, took the podium.  She used her life as an example of life’s adversities and advised all-readers and writers alike-to never give up on your dreams.

The Luncheon ended with book signings.  Approximately 38 authors participated.  The Luncheon was held Saturday, November 3, 2012 in Birmingham, Alabama at the Harbert Center.
