My Bucket List

Welcome to week #7.  The topic: Top five things on my bucket list.

Whatever you do, never stop dreaming. I’m a dreamer.  Some of my dreams are simple and come true easily, while some are not so easy to attain or require a little more time, prayer, and work.  Here are five dreams topping my bucket list:

Publish my first book.

See the Grand Canyon. About seven years ago my great uncle toured the U.S. with his daughter and son-in-law. One of the places they visited was the Grand Canyon. They brought back pdawn on the S rim of the Grand Canyonhotos. In the photos of the canyon, the sky was a beautiful blue and the reds, yellows, greens, and purples were so vibrant, I knew it was one of the
places I’d love to visit and explore.

Learn to Swim. As a child, I was the cousin that was afraid to get in the water. When I was older, I took the plunge and relegated myself to the kiddie pool. Now, if for no other reason, I need to learn because swimming is an exercise that builds endurance, muscle strength, keeps the heart rate up and takes the impact of stress off of the body when swimming.

Take an Alaskan Cruise. I have fallen in love with Alaska. I watch most of the tv shows on The Travel Channel and National Geographic. I don’t know if I’d like to live there, especially in the areas where the weather is extreme, but I’d love to visit. The first step in that is taking a cruise.  (photo – Alaska Cruise Experts)Alaska Cruise Experts

Visit England (and Europe). The UK has always fascinated me. I would love to visit the land of William Shakespeare and Emily Bronte, two authors I mentioned from last week’s post.

These are just some of the things on my bucket list. There are plenty of other things. What’s on your list? Please be sure to check out the other authors blogging here.

“I love you not because of who you are, but because of who I am when I am with you” – Anonymous

This is a favorite quote of mine. The main male character in my current wip gives the lady he loves a locket with this quote engraved inside.

Have a great celebration!

My Five Authors I’d Like to Meet

Here we are at week #6 of the Marketing For Romance Writers 52-Week Blog Hop. This week’s topic is ‘Five authors (alive or dead) I’d like to meet.’

  • William Shakespeare – The Bard, English playwright.  I think I would have loved going to see his plays in person and possibly meeting him face to face. My favorite is The Taming of the Shrew.

  • Emily Bronte – An English novelist and poet famous for her only novel and my favorite, Wuthering Heights.

  • Zora Neale Hurston – Author, Anthropologist, Civil Rights Activist. An Alabama girl, like me. I’d go totally fan-girl but in a dignified way if I were to meet her.  My favorite book of her is Their Eyes Were Watching God.

  • Anne McCaffrey – The Dragon Lady. American born Irish author of the best science fiction novels (Gene Roddenberry is a close second). If I had had the opportunity to meet her, oh man, I’d have been really bonkers. Of all of her series, my favorite is The Dragonriders of Pern.

  • Beverly Jenkins – Ms. Bev. American author of 19th century African-American historical and contemporary novels. I am almost stalker-ish about this writer. I was a member of her Yahoo group years ago and migrated with her when she moved the group to Facebook. My favorite book of hers is Night Song.
